Those who know me should know by now that I don’t do much of anything the easy way.
As the handful of regular readers also know by now, I lost all of my old blog posts while cleaning up the old blog. Long story short, everything was over-written when it shouldn’t have been and I lost approx. 5+ years of musings - yup, I’ve been blogging for that long!
I’m actually not that heart broken by the loss of data and I’m glad I can get an absolute fresh start to blogging and displaying my photography. I even thought of a new title; Sans Souci, which means without care. Kind of fitting, if you ask me, because I didn’t back up my Wordpress installation and databack before attempting to make some major changes to my domain, jump4jay.com.
I decided to go live with a new theme right away (as per usual) and make changes as I go. For this particular theme I still need to change the photos on the top-right because those are not mine, they will be replaced soon enough with a rotation of my own photos. I also want to change the colour scheme of the template, I’ll likely go with the usual blues and greys (thoughts?). I’ll also find a spot to put my little mascot Angry Gordie back on the site. There are a few other odds and ends on the to-do list, but nothing worth mentioning here.
I’ve also integrated the photoblog directly into the blog, on it’s own page. It can be accessed by the top menu or by going to jump4jay.com/go/photos, as always - or get the RSS feed right here. The about/intro page is also no longer a seperate site, but can still be viewed at jump4jay.com/go/intro (coming soon, I still need to redirect the link).
So there you have it all in a nutshell. As always, I ask that you all be patient with me and to definitely feel free to offer any constructive criticism if you see fit.

Lookie lookie, I’ve been Explored on Flickr for the first time!
I was messing around with FD’s Flickr DNA last night and saw that two of my photos had made it into Explore in late July. One would think that there would be some sort of notification if/when a photo gets Explored, but there isn’t, apparently.
I also saw that one of my girlfriend’s photos has also been Explored recently. Nice!

Well, looks like I somehow goofed up my Wordpress installation and lost ALL of my old posts!
I was going through my account at GoDaddy.com and updating some things, installing Gallery2 and the like. I also had it install (GoDaddy automates this stuff) Wordpress into a subdomain, thus, a NEW folder on the server… but nope, apparently it overrides any previous installations minus the themes/plugins. So while I’ve reactivated my preferred theme, I haven’t yet reactivated all of the plugins and widgets. I may take this oppertunity and find a new Wordpress them that better suits my need for a better photoblog (which will also soon be in a new subdomain of photos.jump4jay.com).
So while I continue to try and figure out how/if I can get my old posts back, you can rest assured that, either way, I will be back to blogging a little more regularly than I have been over the last several months.
To be continued…
