Is it any surprise that I went out and bout it?

It looks awesome on my desk. I’ll eventually use that LG Flatron with the iMac for some dual screen action. I’ll also get a few more external hard drive cases to put my HDDs from my PC in so I can have a whole lotta storage capacity.

On the bottom right is my failing PC with both side covers taken off to help keep it cool. Sure, i could have simply replaced the CPU heatsink and be done with it, but everything else in there is at least 3+ years old except for one stick of RAM that I bought last year! It’s time to send it to the graveyard. One “problem” with the iMac is that I can’t really tell if it’s on or not, if it weren’t for the bright 20″ display. The thing is dead silent when you consider that my old PC literally sounds like a slew of jet engines firing up all at once. It’d be interesting to get a decibel reading on it.

I got sidetracked part way through writing this post, so I don’t exactly remember where I was going with it, but the bottom line is this; I’m happy with the purchase, i didn’t get the 10% off Educational Discount like I’d hoped I would (I work for a college), but I did get the manager to knock off $30 and give me 6 months with no payments, nor interest. Not a discount to write home about, but I’ll take it.

If you’ve been considering making the switch lately, I’d highly recommend that you do, at least with my early impressions, maybe I’ll hate it in a month… but somehow I doubt that very much.

What is it with this past week and people switching to Macs? My brother just did the same thing and I’ll tell you the same stuff I told him:

    1) Get Adium. Don’t ask me why, just do.
    2) Go read paulstamatiou.com - lots of good stuff there.
    3) Have fun! So, SO much fun.

Another casualty in the great PC/Mac war. RIP little gold PC with the blue LED fans….RIP.

I’ll admit that it sorta looks like a bully next to my old PC.

I know a handful of people that have switched over the years, they’re all happy with it, extremely happy. As I’ll be. They were all avid Windows users and they all say the same thing, “people knock Apple (Macs, iPods, etc) until they start to use it. It ‘just works’”

I know that’s not quite the case for you, Jason, but maybe you should play with more than just work on it?

Cas: Yup, got Adium already, all ready to go, you know, for whenever you decide to “accidentally” sign on. ;)
And I definitely know of PStam, thanks for the reminder, I was glued to Lifehacker.com and UneasySilence.com last night, they cover a lot of Mac stuff as well.

    Nope! :)

I’ve been thinking about it for a few months now. And now that it’s been confirmed that we’re getting retroactive pay going back to 2001 and a pay increase effective as of Feb 8, I figure I can afford it at this time.

Frankly, my only regret is not getting one sooner (a new computer in general, PC or Mac - my old one really is in bad shape)

Jay can I have it? I have been working on a mac at work and like a few of the things…it is coming back to me.

Hmm, I’ll have to think long and hard about that one, Ryan. I’m getting pretty attached to this thing. :)
