It Had My Name Written All Over It
October 15, 2006
As stated in my previous post, I went down to the closest Future Shop to grope the S3 IS and get a feel for her… er, I mean it, a feel for it. The salesman came over to talk to me, nice guy, I’ve delt with him a few times, and I actually asked him to talk me out of it. Then I asked him if they had the model in stock… just my luck, they had one left. Damn. There was a fraction of myself that was hoping that they wouldn’t have anymore available, that way I could take it as a sign to not buy it, least not yet. But nooo, there was one left, brand new in the box sitting in front of me on the counter.
It had my name written all over it.
So then the salesman and I made the presumption that I was, in fact, going to buy it and preceded to to grab a 2GB SD card, a charger w/batteries and a new carry case cause there’s no way that this camera would fit my old case, unfortunately. After all of that work gathering all of the needed components, I just had to purchase it at that point. We went through all of that trouble, after all, I wasn’t about to catch & release.
Once I got it home I unboxed it (what is it about unboxing gadgets that’s almost orgasmic?), then I played with all of the shiny new buttons, the flip screen, tested it with the new camera bag and got a good feel for it. I was in the mood to shoot so I headed outside by the water (bout 5 minutes away on foot) and snapped just over 100 pictures. I created a Flickr photoset for them.
So what next? I’ll be working on the new photoblog theme to get that up and running A.S.A.P.
Stay tuned…

I knew that we shared the same first name but I didn’t know that your middle name is “Canon” too! Nice reading your stuff! I guess I needed to leave TagWorld before I could really get into reading stuff outside of the TW enlosure. Glad I could scare ya…you’ll have to give me the short list of what else scares the carp out of ya…

Thanks ya, Sir.
I’m loving the camera so far, I think we’re a perfect match, love at first sight.
As for a short list of what scares me, the theme song to “Halloween” and zombies busting throw windows both give me the heebee jeebees! And apparently the Discovery channel series “A Haunting” should get me a little spooked, I’m supposed to be watching those soon enough with a buddy or two.

“Crashed and burned my friend, crashed and burned.”
Oh well. You deserve a goodie or two now and then.

As I said on the last post, why work if you can’t treat yourself once in a while?
And she is a gem.
You’re ok to call her ‘her’. It’s when you give her a name that we start to worry

[...] Did you guys notice the new photoblog? All old links should redirect automatically. Please let me know if there are any problems and/or what you think. Aminus3 is a great community of photobloggers, tonnes of friendly folks that love nothing more than viewing good photos and giving/receiving feedback. Getting comments on my stills only encourages me to get out there and take more photos. I know I just recently bought a new camera, but I’m seriously starting to consider buying a DSLR, likely a Canon, or the new Nikon D40, which is toted as a great stepping stone to DSLRs. [...]
